www redirect rule with 301 instead of 302 - SEO improvements 🔥

I’ve checked my first website made with Divhunt with my SEO tools. They suggest that it’s better to use a 301 (permanent) redirect for www-redirects instead of a 302 (temporary).

I would also not offer the user the option ‘both’ because that could lead to double content, which might downgrade the site in search engines.

interesting blog-post with this topic: 301 vs. 302 Redirects: Which Should You Use?

the results of my seo-check:

→ * You use a 302 redirect. This means, that the actually content is temporary not reachable and will come back soon. To use a 302 redirection for generally moved pages is a bad idea. Search engine bot might not follow it or handle it as temporary. For SEO this is also a bad idea, because no link juice will be transferred to the linked page.

302 was a “temporary” due to testing of the redirect feature, as if something breaks, it’s hard to reverse redirects as they are stored in the user browser.

I’ve moved to 301 now as everything seemed to work well.

For the “both”, it will also be removed in near future and all the websites will have the default “non-www” set.

Please do some testing on your own.
